Good spot Positive: Close to everything Negative: Bit run down

Positive: The location is fantastic. We often stay in The Rocks, but it can be noisy during festivals. The Quaint Terrace House was far enough away to be quiet, but a three min walk to be in the middle of it all. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with crockery, utensils and a just like home feel. People need to remember when booking, this is an old terrace. If you're expecting BLING BLING you'll be disappointed. If you want comfortable and character you got it.

Great location and adequate accommodation Positive: The location was excellent with plenty of bars, cafes, sights and public transport within a short walk. The townhouse was a decent size overall for a 2 bedroom property, the beds were comfortable and the shower had lovely hot water and good water pressure. The host was very helpful. She communicated all the information required about the property and some additional info about transport and attractions. Negative: The townhouse smelt musty and is very tired, I would go so far as to say shabby. There is a fair amount of paint damage throughout and although the place looks clean at a glance, it could do with a good deep clean. The bathroom, which is tiny, has quite a lot of mold and mildew in the tile grout and sealant and rust damage on the shower curtain rail, waste bin, shaving cabinet and broken toilet roll holder. The kitchen is very outdated but seems to be functional and fairly well-equipped. The stove is rusty. There were dirty used sponge/scourers in the sink cupboard. Milk was supplied in the fridge but only 3 coffee capsules and an open, half used pack of loose teabags, rather than sealed sachets. That was fine, we went out and bought our own supplies but it was a bit off-putting. I’m not sure if the description of “quirky” covers all this but some aspects were a bit disappointing.

The worst accomodation we’ve ever had for a break, and we’ve traveled a lot. Positive: Location is good. Negative: It is an old dilapidated apartment, properly run down. The description talks about aircon, terrace, garden, shows having drink on a veranda with a view. None of it true. Super small, no cupboards, paint peeling off walls and doors, glass panel above 1 door simply knocked out. And noisy as! Right opposite a noisy outside bar/restaurant on a narrow street. Without earplugs it’s impossible to sleep until early morning.

Fantastic location. Well recommended. Would happily stay here again. Positive: Location was fantastic. We deliberately chose a 'Rocks' location so that we could explore that area more. It was only a few streets from the main heart of 'The Rocks' and there was very good access to public transport. Even thought it was the Easter weekend, a lot of the area was trading and there were lots of things still happening. The ferry services from Circular Quay to Darling Harbour are plentiful and we found ourselves crossing from one side to the other all day. Negative: Just to be clear, we travel a lot, and our expectations are always reasonable. This is not a listing of what we didn't like, but a listing of what to expect when you arrive. This was a heritage listed original dwelling from 1906. The dwelling beside this one, which is a bit bigger and a different layout, sold in 2017 for $2 million. I have stayed in brand new $2 million penthouses before, and this was absolutely not that. It is located up the hill towards the Harbour Bridge onramp from the city. There is no traffic noise. There is a pub opposite, and the patrons stumble down the stairwells in front of the dwelling until about midnight. Some are loud, some are not, but the noise echoes. For being towards the top of the hill, there was no view. You are staying here beacuse of the location and, so some degree, because of its heritage history. The bathroom was tiny. There was plenty of hot water and the shower was pretty good, but the bathroom was old. The rooms are all small, and the kitchen is dated, but functional (and, to be honest, we didn't use it at all). The rooms were not air conditioned but there were plenty of fans. Power access was challenging - the points were obviously put in to address the heritage limitations, so there about 8 million power packs run all over the place. We were there in autumn, so the fans were sufficient. I suspect that it would be cool in summer due to the heritage heavy block wall construction, but possibly very cold in winter. Lastly, and just to be clear, this is not really a criticism but a statement of fact, The Rocks is all about stairs. Long runs from the harbour to the bridge. So, if stairs are not your thing, just be very aware that the stairs are everywhere.
